Authors – including a dean and a sleuth – correcting paper with duplicated image

The corresponding author of a paper flagged on PubPeer for an apparently duplicated image will be asking the journal to publish a correction, Retraction Watch has learned.  The paper, “The BET bromodomain inhibitor exerts the most potent synergistic anticancer effects with quinone-containing compounds and anti-microtubule drugs,” appeared in Oncotarget in 2016. Its authors include Marcel … Continue reading Authors – including a dean and a sleuth – correcting paper with duplicated image

A retraction cluster? Two papers retracted for overlap with other retractions

A cluster of papers by different authors has been retracted for sharing text, even though some papers were submitted at the same time. How is that possible? A spokesperson for Springer told us that they have reason to believe a third-party company may have helped prepare the papers for publication, and in the process might have spread … Continue reading A retraction cluster? A paper used capital T’s instead of error bars. But wait, there’s more!

Mere days after tweets went viral pointing out  that the purported error bars in one figure of a paper were really just the capital letter T, the publisher has marked it with an expression of concern. [12/22/22: The paper has now been retracted; see an update on this post.] And that’s not all that’s strange about … Continue reading A paper used capital T’s instead of error bars. A publisher just retracted ten papers whose peer review was “engineered” — despite knowing about the problem of fake reviews for years

The paper, “Crucial role of interleukin-7 in T helper type 17 survival … Continue reading Nature Medicine retracts MS paper with ghost data by former GSK researcher
